			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Horrendous things happen every second on this planet. People and animals are harmed, or even killed. Plants are going extinct. Property is destroyed. Natural disasters wreak havoc. People become homeless, lose their loved ones, or become permanently disabled. The list of dreadful things that can happen is endless. Seeing or hearing news about things that seem bad can be traumatic. It can cause feelings of powerlessness, panic, anxiety, sadness, anger, and fear.&nbsp; Understanding your response to bad things will help you find a place of tranquility inside, regardless of what is happening around the world.</p>
<p>The first thing to realize is that all form is impermanent. People die. Animals die. Buildings will all eventually fall to the ground. Even mountains are in a continual state of wearing away back into the earth. There is no form that exists that will not some day be destroyed. It is the way of form. As humans, this is hard for us to understand. We want life to be predictable, safe, humane, and never-ending. We suffer when we lose things that we love, that keep us safe and comfortable, and that we are familiar with.</p>
<p>The painful emotions that you feel when something bad happens, even if you are not directly affected by it, are due to feelings of helplessness over, and attachment to, form. Your ego wants form to remain. It wants your loved ones never to die, your home to never burn to the ground, and for bad things to not happen. This is not the way of our world, though, and to fight it with pessimistic feelings only makes you feel bad and has no direct affect on keeping bad things from happening.</p>
<p>It is your attachment to things, people, and places that cause you painful emotions. Perhaps you have heard the saying, &ldquo;Attachment is suffering.&rdquo; Since form is not permanent, any attachment (emotional, physical, or otherwise) that you have to form will always let you down. Your car was clean and you were proud, and now a bird has pooped upon it. Do you become angry and frustrated? Or do you let it go? Your wife loved you, now she has left. Do you become despondent, angry, or sad, or do you let it go? Your ability to let go of attachment is one of the key ingredients to peace of mind.</p>
<p>Your thoughts are the only thing that makes a difference in how you feel about bad things. It is that easy. First comes a thought, then an emotion. An emotion is your body&rsquo;s reaction to your thoughts. This works for both things that you think are good in your life, and things that you think are bad.&nbsp; When bad things happen in the world, it is your thoughts about it that make you suffer, not the bad thing. It is your attachment to bad things not happening that makes you suffer.</p>
<p>So, you may wonder, &ldquo;What do I do when bad things happen?&rdquo; The thing has happened completely out of your control. You can accept that it happened and eliminate any thoughts about it from your mind, or you can think about it incessantly, feel bad, and lose sleep. But realize this: your feeling bad, crying and losing sleep does only one thing: it makes YOU feel badly. It does nothing to change the bad things that have happened. And the people around you will be affected by your bad feelings: your children, friends, co-workers, and everyone that you come into contact with. It will do nothing to keep future bad things from happening, and it will do nothing to help those who are currently suffering.</p>
<p>Perhaps as you read this you are realizing that there is some remorse in you about not feeling badly. Maybe you are thinking, &ldquo;But if I don&rsquo;t feel badly when bad things happen to other people, does this mean I am not compassionate? That I am callous? That I am selfish and self-centered?&rdquo; No, it does not. The best that you can be for the world, your loved ones, and the people that you come into contact with every day is to be at your most excellent. If you are focused on the bad thing that happened recently, and talk about it, and feel bad about it, how can you help those who are closest to you be at their best? How can you be at your best?</p>
<p>Letting go of attachment to form is one of the quickest ways to a higher state of awareness. You realize that form is impermanent, and you accept that you have no control over it. You can own form, and have relationships with form, but form will go away at some point. It may affect you directly &#8211; your car is in an accident and now you don&rsquo;t have one. Or, it may affect you indirectly &#8211; you hear on the news that some people have died. Either way, it is done. Your car is gone, and the people are gone. It is your choice &#8211; you can be mad about the car, or you can simply start making a plan to get a new one. You can be sad about the people who have died, or you can accept that people die every day, sometimes tragically, and that is the way of the world.</p>
<p>To take this a step further, the only thing that is permanent is love. If you are feeling badly about things that have happened, focus instead on the love inside of you. Love is the only thing that is permanent and it can never be taken from you. It is an energy that permeates everything and connects us all together. As you discover more about your attachment to form, you can start experimenting with feeling love instead of anger or resentment. Love really is the solution. It is the only true emotion; all others are simply some sort of fear. Fear and love cannot live in you simultaneously. Fear is a projection of an imagined future that you don&rsquo;t want. If you are feeling something other than love, look deeply and track the emotion back to the source. You will undoubtedly find fear if you look deep enough.</p>

These books will help you begin to understand how your emotions have led you astray from your true self.</p>
<p>But in the mean time, if you are feeling overwhelmed by current events, go inside of yourself and find the love in your heart. Focus only on feeling that powerful feeling of love. Do whatever it takes to generate that feeling inside yourself: imagine someone that you love, or doing something that you love. Once you get that love feeling inside of you, it will push out all other bad feelings and bring you right back into the present moment, which is all that there is anyway.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I put a request out on Twitter Facebook asking what your main challenges are at this time of year. Responses came back showing a definite theme: “taking time off”, “I find it hard to stop working”, “striking the right balance between rest, work and play”, “slowing down”.</p>
<p>There may be a clear need for you to take some physical rest – to enjoy a well-earned break and just stop. You may have noticed that if you don’t build in enough downtime, your body takes charge and forces you into a halt. You may also discover that if you’ve been storming ahead at high speed, you find yourself succumbing to ‘relaxation illness’ – in other words, the moment you stop, you get that cold or flu which was being held at bay whilst on the treadmill.</p>
<p>But ‘resting’ might not necessarily involve a physical stop. When I lived in Australia, I volunteered at a homeless shelter on Christmas Day. It was relatively strenuous – setting up the hall, distributing food, clearing up afterwards – but being there got me away from my own drama and the loneliness I felt from being so far from home. It gave me some sanctuary, a time-out of sorts. It might be that your fortnight ahead is full of physical activity: wrapping, packing, traveling and lots of people. What rest can you find amid all that?</p>
<p>It might be that resting is about letting go of the exhausting old stories that you spin about yourself, stories like: “I’m no good” or “I can’t do this as well as her”. Perhaps now is the perfect time to tell that critical voice to go on holiday and leave you alone. Here is an opportunity to say farewell to old stories about what Christmas is meant to be about – whether that involves dropping a super-woman compulsion to get everything perfect, or releasing the need to purchase in order to show people you love them.</p>
<p>It may be that resting for you is about letting go of the fight. Is there a particular topic which you and your mother always clash over? What would it be like to decide to put being peaceful above being right? What if you decided to give that issue a rest, just for a year? Perhaps you could use this time to enjoy the simple pleasure of company, and the fun and celebration of being with people you love, seeing them for who they really are.</p>
<p>It might be, of course, that now is a time for you to rest in to the sadness of loved ones lost. A few days away from work need not be spent productively or cheerfully; perhaps hiding under the duvet and just being with your broken heart is what’s needed.</p>
<p>How does your spirit, your psyche find rest? What brings you that sense of coming home, to a place where all is well?</p>
<p>And finally, as the Copenhagen climate negotiations come to a close this week, perhaps there’s a bigger question about what we as a society need to put to rest. Maybe it’s time to let go of continual material growth, perhaps it’s time to put the brakes on and take a breather, and assess full-heartedly where to look for our future progress.</p>
<p>However you relate to this time of year and whatever your plans, may you find the rest that you need.</p>
<p>The World Needs Your Passion, So&#8230;</p>
<p>1) What do you want to celebrate that you have done, been and achieved which has brought you here? Find that part of you which can acknowledge that you are allowed a well-earned, well-deserved break.</p>
<p>2) What could you build in that would allow you rest? A twenty minute walk by yourself to have some space from a chaotic family gathering… Allowing yourself to watch a film without it being for personal development… A sign up somewhere saying “You’ve bought enough presents already, now stop”.</p>
<p>3) What old stories are you ready to put to rest? Which are the mantras that go round and round, weighing you down and squashing your joy? Commit to this season being the time to let them go.</p>

The intent is to manipulate the body&#8217;s &#8220;Ki&#8221; flow to cause advantageous results. Shiatsu and Acupressure are strongly related in that both manipulate these meridian points thru pressure by fingers, thumbs, and palms. In Shiatsu, very like other kinds of massage, one can use not simply the thumbs and fingers, but also elbows, palms, knees, or perhaps feet ( thumbs, palms, and fingers are employed in traditional Shiatsu. ) Mixed with a solid awareness of pressure points Shiatsu works really well to alleviate agony, relax the body, and promote healing. Some have even used Shiatsu for headaches, but that may alter significantly with the individual. So what are the advantages of shiatsu massage? Shiatsu practitioners are trained in diagnosis, as well as treatment, and the desire of Shiatsu is to stop illness and to help in recovery and help healing. Shiatsu is a &#8220;whole body&#8221; system, so its use will help the immune and circulatory systems, bone structure, muscles, and the overall fitness of the body. Shiatsu was developed in Japan in the 1900s and is based off guidelines that are millenia old. In a number of ways it can be looked at as a modification of acupressure, or acupuncture without the needles. The Japan Varsity of Shiatsu was established in 1940 and Shiatsu became sometimes accepted in Japan in the fifty&#8217;s and is growing around the planet. Today Shiatsu practice in Japan is controlled and practitioners have to go thru a regime licensing program. A few divergences on Shiatsu strategies have developed over time. One is Grigorian Strategy Shiatsu, by Dr Grigore, Shiatsu Master. This is a completely unique full body treatment that is concentrated on the skeleton. It mixes joint motion and &#8220;range of motion&#8221; movements with pressure points which needs the customer to be passive, loose, and relaxed. It is a defensive care for inflammatory illness as well as a good system of recovery and body upkeep. Another form is Zen Shiatsu, originated by Shizuto Masunaga ( 1925-1981. ) This form mixes the conventional Shiatsu systems with the meditative state of the expert. The Zen meditative state allows the masseur to better feel the customer&#8217;s replies to the treatment. The Zen Shiatsu Specialist uses these replies, and his hands, to see the inequalities of the body and he then tries to revive those inequalities. Aromatherapy is sometimes used with Shiatsu massage. While not officially part of shiatsu treatment the aromatherapist brings added benefit to the Shiatsu session. Note, that just having a pleasing scent in the massage room isn&#8217;t Aromatherapy. Acupressure Coaching in Shiatsu can be had at a selection of offline and online massage coaching centers. Look in your telephone book for local Shiatsu Massage centers or go browsing and search on &#8220;acupressure training&#8221; or &#8220;shiatsu training.&#8221; You will see a fair number of sites come up under either of those terms. Shiatsu is tricky, if not actually impossible, to gain from a book, so a good shiatsu teacher is strongly recommended. If you can not find a Shiatsu consultant a fascinating alternative could be a Shiatsu massage chair. These chairs try to reproduce the effect of a Shiatsu massage, though I do not imagine that they are superb at manipulating Ki flow or entering into a Zen meditative state. They do offer a very good massage, though , and can be really snug.

The Zen Shiatsu Specialist uses these replies, and his hands, to see the inequalities of the body and he then tries to revive those inequalities.</p>
<p>Aromatherapy is sometimes used with Shiatsu massage.</p>
<p>While not officially part of shiatsu treatment the aromatherapist brings added benefit to the Shiatsu session.</p>

Look in your telephone book for local Shiatsu Massage centers or go browsing and search on &#8220;acupressure training&#8221; or &#8220;shiatsu training.&#8221; You will see a fair number of sites come up under either of those terms. Shiatsu is tricky, if not actually impossible, to gain from a book, so a good shiatsu teacher is strongly recommended. If you can not find a Shiatsu consultant a fascinating alternative could be a Shiatsu massage chair. These chairs try to reproduce the effect of a Shiatsu massage, though I do not imagine that they are superb at manipulating Ki flow or entering into a Zen meditative state.</p>
<p>They do offer a very good massage, though , and can be really snug.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>May I assume that you are the individual who has experienced many anxiety attacks recently?  Are you concerned that they have essentially taken over your life?  First of all, friend, I can relate to what you are going through.  In the late 1990’s, I experienced a traumatic event that occurred in my life.  As a result of the stress and pressure that slowly consumed into my being, I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder by a medical psychiatrist.  Believe me; I understand completely of the damage that repeated anxiety attacks can do to you both physically and mentally.</p>
<p>Living with a high level of anxiety and stress each day is nearly impossible.  It can even get to the point where you are afraid to leave your home.  I hope that this is not the case with you.  What is important is that you are able to take effective steps to reduce the amount of attacks that occur in your life.  Let me tell you right from the start:  Prescription medication, (anti-anxiety pills) will <u>not</u> provide a <u>long term</u> solution to this problem.  You would not want to become the individual who becomes dependent on taking a pill once every 12 hours.  Besides, medication often has side effects.  You may temporarily prevent an anxiety attack when you place that pill in your mouth.  However, this medication if taken for a lengthy amount of time may also react negatively with your body, resulting in other unwanted problems that may occur. </p>
<p>If you have experienced many such attacks lately, you need to first identify the symptoms.  Each person reacts to stress and high levels of anxiety in different ways.  But some of the more common symptoms that you may experience would be:  stomach pain, chest pain, a racing heart, dizziness, mood swings, restlessness, sweaty palms, and an inability to focus.  You should strongly consider consulting with your physician who would then perform a full examination.  Your doctor may then prescribe, for the short term, (and that is important) medication to help minimize the damage to your body, physically.  </p>
<p>As I stressed earlier, any prescription medication will only deal with the symptoms of an anxiety attack.  As I learned, medication is only a stop-gap solution.  My psychiatrist then began to help me address the triggers that were causing the attacks.  While my situation was probably different from what you’re going through, it is important that you begin to do a little self-analysis, (along with your physician) studying your lifestyle.  Are you having problems at work?  Are there problems at home?  Are you concerned about your health?  Is your financial situation suddenly a major cause for concern in your life?  Have you become obsessed about the future?  The stress, pressure, and worry about these triggers may have reached such a high level that your brain and nervous system have both become over-stimulated.  This imbalance chemically in your body is what is producing the anxiety attacks that have affected your very being.</p>
<p>Here is what you can do to reduce those anxiety attacks that have occurred recently in your life:</p>
<p>Exercise, relaxation, and sleep:  Start an exercise routine, at least 3-4 days per week.  Your routine could be as little as walking 2-3 miles/day, to start.  Exercise not only benefits your cardiovascular system.  But also during periods of exercise, endorphins are released from the body chemically.  To put it simply, the release of endorphins reduces the stress and anxiety in your body.  In addition to periods of exercise, your body also benefits from periods of relaxation.  Learn methods involving yoga, meditation, and deep breathing or relaxation techniques.  Listening to soothing, quiet classical music also benefits both your mind and your body.  Getting the proper amount of sleep also reduces the tension in your body.  Sleep in a cool, quiet setting.  More importantly, get into the habit of going to bed at approximately the same time every night.  Those late night talk shows may be funny.  But, going to bed at 1 am., when you have to get up by 6 am., is very counterproductive to your body’s normal sleep cycle. </p>
<p>Distraction:  When you feel as if you’re about to have an anxiety attack find something that will focus your mind elsewhere.  You could listen to some uplifting music, go for a run, take a soothing shower or bath; anything to direct your attention away from any impending attack.   Focus on something positive that will take your mind off of the negativity of an attack.  </p>
<p>Avoid alcohol and caffeine:  Alcohol is a depressant.  If you are experiencing high levels of anxiety, imbibing in alcohol would be the <u>worst</u> thing that you could do.  Alcohol would not be the way to distract your thoughts, or act as a coping mechanism.  Drinking that beer or glass of hard liquor will only lead to even worse attacks in your immediate future.  Caffeine is a stimulant that, in the long run, will only <u>increase</u> the level of anxiety that you’re feeling. </p>
